Chartered ________________ as Meredosia Chapter No. 11 in Meredosia

Removed 1975 to Chicago and merged with Fe-Y-Revindacion Chapter UD.

A group of companions from Cuba, living in exile in Chicago, had secured dispensation for a chapter in which they could work in the Spanish language ritual of the former Grand Chapter of Cuba [that ritual was recognized by the General Grand Chapter of which the Grand Chapter of Illinois was then a member]. Controversy over the propriety of granting a charter for a foreign-language chapter kept Fe-Y-Revindacion Chapter under dispensation for five years. By 1975, Meredosia Chapter No. 11 was nearly defunct and preparing to surrender its charter. The Cuban companions took a bus south to Meredosia, petitioned and were elected for membership. Their first order of business was then to remove the chapter to Chicago. The chapter’s remaining companions downstate then demitted to join other chapters as they had intended to do with the planned dissolution.
