2017 Grand Sessions Details
Once again, the Grand York Rite Sessions will be held at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. The dates of the event are July 13, 14 and 15, 2017. More details include:
Your best bet for hotel rooms is to call the local hotel (309-862-9000) and make reservations directly with the hotel. The special rate is $120 plus tax per night. Use the group block name (special rate code): “Grand York Rite.” The deadline for reserving rooms with this special rate is June 21st, 2017 (rooms revert to the standard/public rate after this date). The hotel is located at: 201 Broadway Avenue in Normal.
Grand Chapter’s Annual Grand Convocation will take place the morning of Friday, July 14th. We have a full agenda for the morning, which will be released shortly (we are still working through the details).
Dinners & Lunches
There will be one lunch this year after our Grand Sessions, not separate ones for DDGHPs/Secretaries and then everyone else. After lunch, there will be one break-out session FOR EVERYONE where our new MEGHP will outline his plans for his year, give some insight into his vision and needs for our Chapters, and DDGHPs and Chapter Secretaries will receive pertinent information packets.
As in previous years, our ladies are hosting lunches and my wife, Debbie’s, is planned to be quite an affair. The theme for her luncheon is a Piano Bar (yes, we will have a piano player!). I hope you will encourage your ladies to attend the luncheon. A flyer for this is noted below for download. Make reservations through the online system (preferred) or using the mail-in application, also downloadable below.
We will be featuring an Awards Night Dinner on Thursday, July 13th. This will be held as a “Table Dinner” and each Grand York Rite Body will be handing out its major awards, as well as a new York Rite Mason of the Year Award. A flyer for this event is also included below to download.
Finally, our Grand Gala will be held on Friday, July 14th. This year’s theme is “The Rat Pack is Back.” It’s a black tie (tuxedo or black/dark suit for the fellas, cocktail dresses or similar for the ladies) affair with a great plated dinner (see flyer for selections), dancing, and a four-piece swing band with fantastic vocalists! We think that this will be a great way to cap off our year!
The Order of High Priesthood will be held the afternoon of Friday, July 14th. Details will be given later when the Event Agenda is released. Grand Commandery will have their meeting on Thursday, July 13th and the Grand Council will meet on Saturday, July 15th. There will be a KYCH Priory meeting and ceremony on Saturday afternoon.
